What services do you offer?

We specialize in gorgeous hairstyles, including updos, half-up, romantic down styles and blow outs. We also offer both traditional and airbrush makeup as well as lash extensions and spray tanning.

What experience do your artists have?

Our artists are all experts in their craft and have been hand-selected by Behind the Veil’s founders for their amazing talents and years of professional experience. Each artist on our beauty team has worked in their field of hairstyling or makeup artistry for at least 5 years. In fact, most of our artists have actually been in the business of making brides beautiful for 10 to even 20 years! On top of creating gorgeous looks for hundreds of brides each year, many members of our beauty team also work as pro artists for companies such as MAC, Smashbox, Laura Mercier, and Bobbi Brown as well as high-end salons. We love what we do and have a passion and excitement that truly sets us apart!

Do you offer trials?

Yes! We would love to meet with you! Trials are provided by appointment at our studio located in Pasadena, MD. We will work together with you to create the perfect hair and makeup for your big day! Read here for more details about our trials and studio location.

Have you worked with all ethnicities?

Yes! All of our artists have years of experience working with every ethnicity, hair texture, and skin tone. We specialize in all hair textures including very curly! Our makeup artists come prepared with every foundation shade to ensure you have the perfect match as well as an extensive variety of blush, shadow and lip colors! We also have lots of styling products for every hair need!

Which cosmetic brands do you use?

Our artists use only the highest quality products (including lots of waterproof!) that will photograph beautifully and last all day from the first kiss to the last dance! Some of our favorites includes products from MAC, Smashbox, Bobbi Brown, Urban Decay, Lancome, Bare Minerals, Laura Mercier and Temptu…just to name a few ;)

I have sensitive skin! Can you use my products?

Absolutely! If you have known allergies to everything under the sun and have finally found products that work for your skin, we will be happy to use them!

What is the difference between false lashes and lash extensions?

False lashes are a perfect way to create focus on the eyes. They look amazing both in person and in photos and will last all day. These come in several styles and your artist can test them out during your trial to find the right fit for you.

Nova Lash extensions look amazing in photos and are the perfect way to add length and fullness, giving your eyes a pop. These individual lashes are customized to give you a natural or dramatic effect. With proper care, they will last 4-6 weeks! This is a perfect way to keep you looking gorgeous even through the honeymoon! You can take showers and go swimming without affecting them. Imagine waking up every morning with luscious, full lashes…and no need for mascara!

What is the difference between Traditional and Airbrush makeup?

The biggest difference is in the foundation. With Traditional makeup, our artists use a liquid, cream or mineral powder foundation, depending on the coverage and finish desired. Your artist will find the perfect match, beautifully blended. Traditional makeup looks great and will last for several hours. If you tend to have more oily skin, especially in warmer months, you will just want to carry a small compact with you for touchups during the day.

We love Airbrush makeup and recommend it to all of our brides! Airbrush makeup is a light mist of foundation that is actually sprayed onto the skin. The result is flawless, glowing, perfect skin. It’s great for a summer wedding with it’s humidity and water-proof benefits and will last all day without the need for touch ups! Airbrush is also super light weight which makes it very comfortable to wear in the warmer weather months.

When should I schedule my trial?

We typically suggest scheduling your trial about 2 to 4 months before the wedding. It’s helpful to be prepared, so the perfect time will be once you have all of your hair accessories and photos of styles and looks that you would like to try out. If you are booking us for both hair and makeup, we will schedule both trials together so you can get a sneak peek at your complete wedding day look!

Where can I find hair and makeup inspiration to find the perfect look?

We love Pinterest and are completely addicted! Follow us there for tons of gorgeous hair and makeup ideas! You can also visit us on Instagram as well as our Facebook page! Every week we post photos of our beautiful brides and real weddings. We also love inspiration sites such as Bayside Bride, Charm City Wed and Style Me Pretty. And of course there’s always bridal magazines like Baltimore Bride and The Knot.

Can you service a large group or bridal party?

Yes! We have provided services for groups with as many as 20 before (that was a record!). We love to accommodate bridal parties of all sizes! On your wedding day, you will be provided with one hairstylist and one makeup artist to accommodate everyone. In special circumstances where timing is limited, or if you will have an extra large bridal group, we will be happy to provide additional artists! Additional fees may apply

Having a small intimate wedding with no bridal party?

In order to send a dedicated hair stylist and/or makeup artist to your location, we require a 4 person minimum for hair, and 4 person minimum for makeup. For bridal parties needing fewer services (Bride Only, or parties of less than 4), pricing will be adjusted slightly in order to send a dedicated artist to your location. Please contact us to inquire about availability and pricing.

What if I only need hair or only makeup?

No problem! We are happy to provide just one service if needed.

Will you travel to my location?

Of course! We are an onsite beauty team! We come right to you in the comfort of your home, hotel or bridal suite to get you and your bridal party gorgeous and ready for the big day! We travel throughout Maryland –  including Annapolis, Baltimore, Southern MD and the Eastern Shore – as well as DC, Northern Virginia and parts of Delaware.

Standard $25 travel cost (per artist) for each wedding within 20 miles of our studio location (Pasadena, MD 21122).

For every 20 miles beyond our standard travel area – an additional $25 (per artist) will be added to the final invoice.

Parking: For locations which include parking/garage fees, cost (per artist) will be added to the final invoice

How far in advance should I book your services?

We book very quickly! If you are interested in our services, please get in touch and we’ll be happy to schedule your trial and discuss the big day!

What can I expect on the wedding day?

Relax and have fun! We come right to you! Feel free to wake up in your robe, enjoy mimosas with the girls, listen to music and laugh the day away as our beauty team gets you gorgeous and ready to tie the knot! (This is the best part of our job!) We love hanging out and have so much fun getting to be part of all the excitement on the big day!

I'm very interested in your services! How do I book?

Perfect! We would love to save your date! In order to officially book your wedding date, we just request a signed copy of your contract along with a $200 deposit which will be applied towards your total for wedding day services.
